Isolate and Access Plant 1 Day
Onsite
Provides students with the skills to safely isolate and de isolate fixed or mobile plant and equipment. Training focuses on applying isolation procedures, controlling stored energy and verifying safe access in line with workplace systems. Accredited units in this training are:
- Regulations and legislation
- Work health and safety requirements
- Plant hazards and risk identification
- Risk assessment methods
- Hierarchy of hazard control
- Types of plant and energy sources
- Isolation principles and objectives
- Isolation devices and methods
- Lock out and tag out procedures
- Verification of isolation
- Testing for zero energy state
- Permit to work requirements
- Access systems and safe access points
- Working around mobile and fixed plant
- Communication and coordination with plant operators
- Selection and use of personal protective equipment
- Monitoring isolation effectiveness
- Responding to isolation failures
- Emergency procedures
- Re energising plant safely
- Documentation and handover procedures
- Closed footwear
- Lunch, or buy from nearby cafes
- Hold a valid USI
- Minimum age 15 (under 18 requires parent/guardian consent)
- Have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to participate in the course
Students deemed competent will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment as required by the Australian Qualifications Framework. Statements are issued by Safe Work Training RTO 21604. To keep skills and knowledge current, Safe Work Training recommends refresher training every 1 to 3 years, depending on other qualifications, and frequency
