Fire Extinguisher 2 Hours
Face to Face
Provides the skills required to safely use fire extinguishers, fire hose reels and fire blankets in a workplace setting. This training focuses on correct equipment selection, safe operation and response within established emergency procedures. Accredited units in this training are:
- Regulations and legislation
- Types of workplace emergencies
- Emergency plans and procedures
- Roles and responsibilities
- Hazard identification and risk assessment
- Fire classes and fire behaviour
- Fire extinguisher and fire blanket selection
- Safe use of firefighting equipment
- Confine small fires safely
- Smoke and toxic atmosphere hazards
- Communication and alarm procedures
- Evacuation decision making
- Post incident actions and reporting
- Closed footwear
- Suitable UV protection
- Warm clothing for cold conditions
- Hold a valid USI
- Minimum age 15 (under 18 requires parent/guardian consent)
- Be physically fit to lift and hold a fire extinguisher
- Have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to participate in the course
Students deemed competent will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment as required by the Australian Qualifications Framework. Statements are issued by Safe Work Training RTO 21604. To keep skills and knowledge current, Safe Work Training recommends refresher training every 1 to 3 years, depending on other qualifications, and frequency
