Provides students with the skills to recognise cardiac arrest and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on an unconscious casualty. Training focuses on practical hands-on application in line with current resuscitation guidelines. Accredited units in this training are:
- Legal and duty of care requirements
- DRSABCD action plan
- Assessing an unconscious casualty
- Airway and breathing management
- Chest compressions and rescue breaths
- Use of automated external defibrillator AED
- Managing choking
- Infection control and hygiene
- Working with other responders
- Post incident procedures and reporting
- Closed footwear
- Lunch, or buy from nearby cafes
- Be at least 15 years old
- USI
- Fitness to Participate, ensure you can safely move to and from the floor and comfortably sustain kneeling for practical activities like CPR.
- Suitable clothing and closed-in footwear
- Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course
Students deemed competent will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment as required by the Australian Qualifications Framework. Statements are issued by Safe Work Training RTO 21604. To keep skills and knowledge current, the Australian Resuscitation Council refresher training every 12 months

Half Day. 8.00 am to 12 Midday.
Are there any training course prerequisites?
Unique Student Identifier (USI): Required for all participants. Create or retrieve your USI at www.usi.gov.au. Language Proficiency: Basic understanding of spoken, reading and writing in English. Physical Ability: Ability to kneel and perform CPR on the floor.
What is a USI?
All students enrolling in nationally recognised training in Australia need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). A USI is an exclusive 10-digit number consisting of letters and numbers that will be used to link a student’s account to all their training records.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes. Students must be at least 15 years old. Parental consent is required if under 18
How often is refresher training?
First Aid refresher is every 3 years CPR refresher is every one year Aligns with recommendations from the Australian Resuscitation Council.

Who needs to do this course?
Examples: Designated First Aiders. Every workplace must have trained first aiders depending on the number of employees and risk level. High-risk industries (construction, manufacturing, mining, etc.). Required to have multiple trained staff. Remote or isolated workers. Must be trained due to lack of immediate medical access. Childcare and education staff. Must complete specific first aid units (e.g., HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting). Aged care and disability support workers. Typically must hold a valid HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.

What do I need to bring on the day?
Please bring your USI. You can bring your lunch or there are lunch venues nearby.
What do I wear on the day?
Comfortable clothes to be able to lay on the floor and participate in first aid practical scenarios.
Do I need to bring my own safety equipment?
No, we provide all PPE and equipment.
Do I need to be physically fit?
Yes. You must be physically capable of kneeling to administer CPR on a manikin.
What if I have an injury or medical condition?
Support is available. Contact us before booking so we can discuss your needs with the trainer and ensure a safe, inclusive training , inclusive training experience.
What if English is my second language?
