First Aid in Education Setting 1 Day
Face to Face
Provides specialised skills for responding to medical emergencies involving infants, children and adults. Training covers CPR, anaphylaxis, asthma management, common injuries and emergency response aligned with school and childcare requirements. Accredited units in this training are:
- Legal and duty of care requirements
- First aid obligations in education and care services
- DRSABCD action plan
- Casualty assessment and management
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation for adults, children and infants
- Use of automated external defibrillator AED
- Managing choking
- Asthma and anaphylaxis management
- Bleeding and shock
- Fractures, sprains and soft tissue injuries
- Burns and scalds
- Febrile convulsions and seizures
- Poisoning and ingestion incidents
- Bites and stings
- Infection control procedures
- First aid kits and facility requirements
- Incident reporting and documentation
- Communicating with emergency services and parents or guardians
- Closed footwear
- Lunch, or buy from nearby cafes
- Wear comfortable clothing for sitting and kneeling on the floor
- Be at least 15 years old
- USI
- Fitness to Participate, ensure you can safely move to and from the floor and comfortably sustain kneeling for practical activities like CPR.
- Suitable clothing and closed-in footwear
- Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course
Students deemed competent will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment as required by the Australian Qualifications Framework. Statements are issued by Safe Work Training RTO 21604. To keep skills and knowledge current, the Australian Resuscitation Council refresher training every 3 years
