Face to Face
Construction Induction training provides students with the skills and knowledge to work safely in the construction industry. Training covers hazard awareness, risk control and safe work practices required to access construction sites. Accredited units in this training are:
- Valid ID
- Valid ID of the parent/guardian
- Be at least 15 years of age
- Have a minimum Year 8 level of literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
- Be able to read and write in English
- Personal transport to and from the venue
- Lunch and water bottle
- Suitable, weather appropriate work ready clothing and closed-in footwear
Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognized under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Safe Work Training (RTO No.21604). White Cards do not have a set expiry date, but under Victorian OHS Regulations, they will lapse if the holder has not done construction work for two consecutive years.

Are there any training course prerequisites?
Unique Student Identifier (USI): Required for all participants. Create or retrieve your USI at www.usi.gov.au. Language Proficiency: Basic understanding of reading and writing in English. Physical Ability: Minimal
What is a USI?
All students enrolling in nationally recognised training in Australia need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). A USI is an exclusive 10-digit number consisting of letters and numbers that will be used to link a student’s account to all their training records.

Who needs this course?
Anyone who enters an area where building or construction work is carried out Examples: Labourers Tradespeople Apprentices Supervisors and managers Engineers Architects Contractors Onsite delivery drivers OHS staff
Who does NOT need this course?
Examples: Delivery drivers that only attend the front office and cannot go onsite Visitors attending meetings is a designated area such as an office Government officers Worker exclusive to site office. For example, IT technician Short term visitors fully escorted such as a journalist, politician
What is Construction work?
The regulations define construction work as, "Any work carried out in connection with the construction, alteration, conversion, fitting-out, commissioning, renovation, repair, maintenance, refurbishment, demolition, decommissioning or dismantling of a structure."
What is a White Card?
A White Card is issued by WorkSafe Victoria after successful completion of the necessary unit of training. The white card is generic induction course required by the construction industry.
Is my White Card approved to use anywhere in Australia?
Yes
What if I need to work, but I’m waiting for my White Card to arrive?
WorkSafe will accept your training certificate number in this period.
Can I do the White Card course online?
No. In Victoria, face-to-face training is mandatory. If you do the course online in another state, WorkSafe Victoria will not recognise it
Do I need to be physically fit?
No. There are no physically demanding tasks. You must be able to wear a range of personal protective equipment

What do I need to bring on the day?
Please bring your USI. You can bring your lunch or there are lunch venues nearby.
What do I wear on the day?
Comfortable clothes to wear in a classroom environment.
Do I need to bring my own safety equipment?
No. Other than suitable clothing for the weather, we provide all PPE and equipment.
Do I need Government ID?
Yes. WorkSafe Victoria requires we confirm ID of the student at enrolment

A current, government-issued photo ID Examples: Australian driver’s licence Australian Learners Permit Australian Boat Operator License. Passport Proof-of-age card Keypass card
What do I bring to the training?
Bring your USI Government issued identification Lunch if you want. There are lunch venues nearby.
